CHRISTMAS PARTY / FIESTA DE NAVIDAD - DEC 9

  The best Christmas party of the year is back, after a three year absence.  We are delighted to announce that the famous Sligo Spanish Society Christmas Party will take place on Friday, December 9th in the Yeats Building Sligo. from 8pm.  There will be live Spanish music from Felip Carbonell and friends, paella and Spanish food by Juani Garcia, as well as cava, turrón and lots of Spanish wine - all for €12.  You won't regret it! It is a good idea to come early as places are limited and we always have a large crowd. 

BACHATA WORKSHOP WITH JONATHAN NAVARRETE - NOVEMBER 19TH

 We are delighted to present a very special bachata workshop in Sligo on November 19th with Jonathan Navarrete from Dublin Salsa Academy.   Take your dance to the next level with this intensive workshop that will go from the basics of partner dancing to more advanced moves.  The workshop is an all-afternoon event, and will take place in St. John's Hall, John Street, Sligo, from 2.30pm to 6pm on the 19th.  Places are limited, so it is vital to book early. To book a place you must choose a Leader or a Follower place. The afternoon workshop costs €28. A deposit can be paid in our class on Thursdays or you can book below.  At the moment all of our Followers' places are booked, though we are taking names for a waiting list. AUTUMN SPANISH COURSES, 2022

  We are back with our Autumn Spanish courses.       We have a range of courses available at all levels, starting the week of September 26 th . As always, we focus on practical spoken Spanish for use in the Spanish-speaking world. Price: All courses cost €130 (or €110 for students or the unwaged – please email spanishinsligo@gmail.com for the discount) Location: All courses take place in the Atlantic Technological University (formerly Sligo IT) Time, Dates and Duration: All classes are one hour and fifteen minutes long – from 7.30pm to 8.45pm. FELIP CARBONELL - THE CATALAN SONGWRITERS - FRIDAY MAY 27TH

The great Felip Carbonell is back with a very special night of music and song next Friday, May 27th.  The concert will take place in the Yeats Building, Sligo, at 8pm.  Marking Sligo Spanish Society's return to public events for the first time since the pandemic, Felip will play some of the songs of his youth, originally performed by the great Catalan songwriters of the sixties and seventies.  Felip will be ably supported by Eddie McFarlane and Eddie Lynch on the night.  Tickets are available at the door and will cost €10, which includes a glass of wine. 

SPRING SPANISH COURSES

We're back after Easter with our traditional Spring Spanish courses - perfect to get yourself ready for your summer holidays to Barcelona or Buenos Aires.   Location Face to face classes will take place in IT Sligo. Online classes will be on Zoom. Courses vary, but we will have 2 or 3 online classes per course this term - we are now back to 60% or 70% in person classes. Dates and times All classes are from 7.30pm to 8.45pm.   Courses begin April 25th, 26th and 27th.  Price The 8 week courses (Beginners, Beginners 3 and Intermediate) are €110, the 7 week courses (Elementary, Pre-Intermediate) are €100.  We have a discounted rate (- €20) for the unwaged – full-time students and social welfare recipients. BACHATA WORKSHOP IN SLIGO, MARCH 12TH, WITH JONATHAN NAVARRETE

  Sligo Spanish Society presents a very special bachata Workshop on Saturday March 12th in Strandhill Co. Sligo with Jonathan Navarrete.  The workshop is for those who have danced some bachata before but who want to advance their skills and techniques. It will take place from 2.30pm to 5.30pm in the Salt and Soul yoga studio, in the picturesque Sligo village of Strandhill. Jonathan teaches with Dublin Salsa Academy, and ran a very popular salsa workshop two years ago, just before the pandemic. We are delighted to have him back.  Places are limited, so it is advisable to book early. The price is €25 per person, and tickets can be booked below. Please choose "Leader" or "Follower"... NEW YEAR SPANISH COURSES

  New Year Courses for all levels will start in mid-January. We will begin online for the first  two weeks and re-evaluate then, but the intention is to get back to face-to-face classes this term. As always, our focus is on practical, spoken Spanish. All courses are ten weeks long. Covid policy Because of the high number of Covid cases at the moment, we are going to begin all classes online for the first two weeks of the term. We will then re-evaluate. The intention is to return to face-to-face classes and to have a total of 50% online and 50% in the classroom. In the classroom, we will ask students to wear masks and maintain social distance. All of our teachers are fully vaccinated. Location Face to face classes will take place in IT Sligo. Online classes will be on Zoom. Dates and times All classes are from 7.30pm to 8.45pm, except for the Leaving Cert course, which is from 5pm to 6.15pm.    Most courses begin the week of January 24 th , except for the Pre-Intermediate and Intermedi
