RAFA BOCERO, SPANISH SINGER-SONGWRITER, JUNE 3RD


We in Sligo Spanish Society are delighted to present Rafa Bocero in his first ever Irish performance.

Rafa is a singer-songwriter from Cordoba in Spain, and will play for us on Friday June 3rd, in the Yeats Building Sligo. The event starts at 8pm.

Rafa has performed all over Spain, Cuba, Germany and Portugal, and has collaborated with various artists, including Lien y Rey in Cuba and Estrada Fado group in Germany.

In 2013 his song El Pasito was used as an anthem by Cordoba football club, and was instrumental in forming a bond between club and fans that led to the team being promoted to the Primera Liga.

His songs have also been used in various Spanish television programmes, including on the show Mujeres y Hombres y Viceversa, on the Tele5 channel.

Rafa’s visit to Sligo is especially fitting as he is going to play live for the first time his song The Fiddler of Dooney, which uses the words of the Yeats poem of the same name which Rafa has set to music.

The event will begin at 8pm. Admission is €7 (or €5 for students and the unemployed) and includes authentic Spanish food by Flamenco Kitchen as well as wine and refreshments.

Rafa es un cantautor cordobés, y actuará viernes, el 3 de junio, en el Yeats Building en Sligo. El concierto empieza a las 8 de la tarde.

Rafa ha actuado en muchos países, como España, Portugal, Cuba y Alemania, y ha colaborado con artistas como Lien y Rey en Cuba y Estrada Fado Group en Alemania.

En 2013 su canción El Pasito se utilizó como base de una campaña de comunicación por el club de fútbol de Córdoba. Logró unir al equipo y a la afición, creando un sentimiento y una energía que fue fundamental para la subida de Córdoba a la Primera División.

Sus canciones se han utilizado en varios programas en la tele española, en particular en el reality Mujeres y Hombres y Viceversa, de Tele5, donde Rafa actuó en directo.

La visita de Rafa a Sligo es particularmente especial porque va a estrenar su canción The Fiddler of Dooney. Rafa ha puesto música al conocido poema de Yeats y va a cantar su versión del poema durante el concierto.

La actuación empezará a las ocho de la tarde. Las entradas son €7 (€5 para parados y estudiantes) y incluidos en el precio son comida española de Flamenco Kitchen, vino y refrescos.
