Week 9
We revised some language connected to illnesses Enfermedades – illnesses El sarampión – measles ¿Qué te ha pasado? – What has happened to you? Me he roto el brazo – I have broken my arm
In Spanish, we use a reflexive verb to express the idea that something has happened to us. Me he torcido el tobillo. Note; we also do not use “mi” with a body part – we always say “el brazo” or “la pierna”. Me duele el brazo.
We then went on to talk about the Caribbean. El Caribe La superficie – the area of a country La población Consiguió su independencia en …… - it gained its Independence in….
We looked at how to say larger numbers 100 – cien 101 – ciento uno 200 - doscientos 500 – quinientos 700 – setecientos 900 – novecientos 1000 – mil


300,000 – trescientos mil 450,300 – cuatrocientos cincuenta mil, trescientos 2,540,792 – dos milliones quinientos cuarenta mil, setecientos noventa y dos. (Note: we only use “y” between the tens and the singles)

•Once the previous structures were reviewed, we turned the class into a market.
The class was divided between shops assistants and customers.
The shop assistant had some products to which they had to put an adequate price.
The costumers had a list of products that they had to buy, they had to go through the different shops and they tried to buy all the things on their list.

This week we worked on a role play about the restaurant. We practiced a conversation between doctor and patient on p.14 ¿Has tenido alguna enfermedad importante de pequeña? – Did you have a major illness when you were young? ¿Te han operado alguna vez? – Have you ever had an operation? ¿Estás vacunada? – are you vaccinated?

•We started the class reviewing the vocabulary of the clothes with the suitcase of Slivia. First we did the exercise individually, second we corrected it with our partner and finally we corrected it in common.
•Next we talked about the articles and we saw the difference between the determined and indeterminate article and also when we do not put article

We revised the use of Ya and Todavía
Question: ¿Ya has terminado? Postive: Ya he terminado. Negative: Todavía no he terminado.
We also added in pronouns that have to come before the verb…… ¿Ya has preparado la música? Todavía no la he preparado.
¿Ya has comprado las bebidas? Sí, ya las he comprado.

For homework, we have to write a review of a film that we have seen, using some of the vocab.

This week we started the topic of films on page 18– Las películas. We looked again at the difference between the Preterito Perfecto (he hecho, hemos trabajado...) and the Preterito Indefinido (the past tense - hice, fui, trabajé, salí etc....)

For periods of time that are still continuing, we use the Perfecto.....
Este mes he hecho muchas clases. 
Esta semana hemos estudiado mucho. 
No he ido a ningún sitio este año. 

For periods of time that are complete, we use the Preterito indefinido...
El año pasado, fui a España dos veces. 
La semana pasada, trabajé mucho. 
Ella salió mucho el mes pasado.

We then watched a video connected to doing household chores - las tareas domésticas....
