PRE INTERMEDIATE COURSE, SPRING 2016, CLASS 8 We continued looking at past tenses this week. We revised the pretérito and the endings for this tense AR verbs – hablé, hablaste, habló, hablamos, hablasteis, hablaron IR/ER verbs – comí, comiste, comió, comimos, comisteis, comieron
Some irregular verbs… Andar – anduve, anduviste, anduvo, anduvimos, anduvisteis, anduvieron. Decir – dije, dijiste, dijo……
We then revised the Imperfect tense AR verbs – trabajaba, trabajabas, trabajaba, …… IR/ER verbs – comía, comías, comía…. Irregulars – Ser – era, eras era…. Ir – iba, ibas, iba…. Ver – veía, veías, veía…..
This is used for talking about repeated actions in the past, often translating “used to”. Comía mucho chocolate cuando era joven
It is also used to express what was happening at a particular point in time Yo cenaba cuando mi amigo me llamó. – I was having dinner when my friend rang.

We learnt some expressions of frequency. We learnt some expressions to express likes and dislikes in Spanish. ¿Te gusta la cerveza? – Do you like beer? Sí, me encanta – Yes, I love it. Sí, me gusta mucho – Yes, I like it very much Sí, me gusta – Yes I like it No, no me gusta mucho – No, I don’t like it very much No, no me gusta – No, I don’t like it No, no me gusta nada – No, I don’t like it at all. If the noun is plural, we add an “n” at the end of “gusta”. See the examples below: ¿Te gustan los huevos? – Do you like eggs? Sí, me gustan mucho – Yes, I like them No, no me gustan nada – No, I don’t like them at all.
