INTERMEDIATE COURSE, AUTUMN 2018, CLASS 9

This week we revised the poem by Garcia Lorca that we listened to last week
Vocab:
La aurora – the dawn
Sudores – sweat, hard work
Podrir – to rot
Vacilar – to stagger

We went on to talk about Andalucía
The accent in Andalucía is marked by a number of differences
- they often drop the final consonant, especially S
- Seseo – They pronounce “c” like in South America – “cinco” is like “sinco”
- The “d” in -ado or -ido is often dropped too – “estoy cansa’o”

WE then talked more about Andalucía and the major regions and cities there.
We prepared to watch a video about Andalucía and did some vocab work…
Marismas – marshes
El lince ibérico – an Iberian wild cat
El águila – the Eagle
Olas rompiendo sobre diques – waves breaking on the dock
Morisco – relating to the Spanish Muslims
