This week we learned the past, which is called the PRETÉRITO in Spanish. We started with some verbs that be used in past

Nacer – to be born
Crecer – to grow up
Ir a la escuela – to go to school
Hacer el servicio militar – to do the military service
Hacer una Carrera universitaria – to study a degree
Conocer a alguien – to know somebody
Enamorarse – to fall in love
Casarse – to get married
Tener hijos – to have children
Separarse – to separate
Divorciarse – to get divorced
Cambiarse de casa – to move out of the house

Verbs in pretérito have different endings depending on the infinitive:
Verbos regulares – Regular verbs
-AR – Cantar
-É – Yo canté
-ASTE – Tú cantaste
-Ó – Él cantó
-AMOS – Nosotros cantamos
-ASTEIS – Vosotros cantasteis
-ARON – Ellos cantaron

-ER – Beber
-Í – Yo bebí
-ISTE – Tú bebiste
-IÓ – Él bebió
-IMOS – Nosotros bebimos
-ISTEIS – Vosotros bebisteis
-IERON – Ellos bebieron

-IR – Vivir
-Í – Yo viví
-ISTE – Tú viviste
-IÓ – Él vivió
-IMOS – Nosotros vivimos
-ISTEIS – Vosotros vivisteis
-IERON – Ellos vivieron

Verbos Irregulares – Irregular verbs
Ir – To go // Ser – to be (permament)
Yo fui – I went // I was
Tú fuiste – You went // You were
Él fue – He went // He was
Nosotros fuimos – We went // we were
Vosotros fuisteis – You went // you were
Ellos fueron – They went // they were

Estar – To be (temporary)
Yo estuve – I was
Tú estuviste – You were
Él estuvo – He was
Nosotros estuvimos – We were
Vosotros estuvisteis – You were
Ellos estuvieron – They were

Tener – To have
Yo tuve – I had
Tú tuviste – You had
Él tuvo – He had
Nosotros tuvimos – We had

Hacer – to do / to make
Yo hice – I did
Tú hiciste – You did
Él hizo – He did
Nosotros hicimos – We did
Vosotros hicisteis – You did
Ellos hicieron – They did

We also learnt some time expressions:
La semana pasada – last week
El mes pasado – last month
El año pasado – last year
Ayer - yesterday
Anoche – last night
Antes de ayer/anteayer – the day before yesterday
Hace dos semanas – two weeks ago

We practised in groups and to wrap up our class we did the listening exercise on page 20.
Javier, ¿qué hiciste ayer? – Javier, what did you do yesterday?
Ayer me levanté pronto para estudiar – Yesterday I woke up early to study.
Después fui a la Universidad y volví a casa a las dos – Then I went to college and I went back home at two.
Y después de comer, por la tarde fui a jugar al baloncesto. – And after having lunch, in the evening I went to play basketball.
Ayer no trabajé y por eso me levanté tarde, a eso de las nueve. – Yesterday I didn’t work and therefore y woke up late, at around 9.
Desayuné y a las once fui a comprar. – I had breakfast and at 11 I went shopping.
Me compré unos pantalones vaqueros y una camisa. – I bought some jeans and a shirt.
A la una tomé un aperitivo con unos amigos y fui a comer. – At one, I had an afternoon snack with a few Friends and I went to lunch.
Volví a las tres y por la tarde fui al gimnasio a hacer un poco de ejercicio. – I returned at 3 and in the evening I went to the gym to do me some exercise.
Cené a las diez y fui a la cama después de ver un poco la televisión. – I had dinner at 10 and I went to bed after watching TV for a while.
Ayer llegué temprano a mi oficina donde trabajo como arquitecta. – Yesterday I arrived at the office where I work as an architect.
Hacia las nueve comencé a diseñar un proyecto que terminé a las once de la mañana para unos clientes. – At around 9 I started to design a Project that I finished at 11am for some clients.
Fui a almorzar a la casa. A las tres regresé a mi oficina a mirar algunas obras que terniamos pendiente. – I went home for lunch. At 3 I returned to my office to look at some projects that were on hold.
En la noche cené en casa fui a un cine con mi novio – In the evening I had dinner at home and I went to the cinema with my boyfriend.
