ELEMENTARY COURSE, SPRING 2018, CLASS 6


This week we looked at routines.
Un día normal – A normal day
Este es Jorge. Jorge es profesor – This is Jorge. Jorge is a teacher.
Él vive en esta casa con su mujer y sus dos hijos – He lives in this house with his wife and his two children.
A las siete y media, Jorge se levanta – At 7.30, Jorge gets up.
Se ducha a las ocho menos cuarto – He has a shower at 7.45
Desayuna a las ocho – He has his breakfast at 8am
Va al trabajo a las ocho y media – He goes to work at 8,30
Jorge empieza el trabajo/empieza a trabajar a las nueve – He starts working at 9am
Come un bocadillo a la una – He eats a sándwich at 1pm
Vuelve a casa a las cinco – He goes back home at 5pm
Jorge cena a las nueve – He has dinner at 9pm
Por las noches Jorge lee… - At nights Jorge reads…
…o ve la television – Or he watches TV
…o juega al fútbol con sus hijos – or he plays football with his children
A las once y media se acuesta – At 11.30 he goes to bed
… y duerme ocho horas. - …and he sleeps for eight hours.

In pairs, we practised the following questions:
¿Dónde vives tú? Yo vivo… - Where do you live? I live…
¿A qué hora te levantas? Me levanto a las… - What time do you get up? I get up at…
¿A qué hora desayunas? Desayuno a las… - What time do you have breakfast? At…
¿A qué hora vas al trabajo? Voy al trabajo… - What time do you go to work? I go to work…
¿A qué hora comes? Como… - What time do you have your lunch? I have lunch…
¿A qué hora vuelves a casa? Vuelvo… - What time do you go back home? I go back home…
¿Qué haces por las noches? – What do you do at nights?
¿Lees? – Do do you read?
¿Ves la television? – Do you watch TV?
¿Juegas al fútbol? – Do you play football?
¿A qué hora te acuestas? Me acuesto… - What time do you go to bed? I go to bed…
¿Cuántas horas duermes? Duermo… - How many hours do you sleep? I sleep…

We learnt some regular verbs and we saw their endings depending on the group that they belong to. We also learnt some irregular verbs like ir (to go), Jugar (to play), empezar (to start), volver (to go back), acostarse (to go to bed) and dormer (to sleep).
To conclude, we did a listening exercise. Some words we did not understand:
Rutina diaria de Patricio y Josefa – Patricio’s and Josefa’s daily routine
Salgo de casa a las ocho y veinticinco – I leave home at 8.25
Llego a la oficina – I arrive at the office
Tomo un café – I have a coffee
Fumo un cigarrillo – I smoke a cigarette
Como en un restaurante – I eat in a restaurant
Doy un paseo en el parque – I take a stroll in the park
Empiezo a trabajar otra vez – I start working again
A las seis, o así, yo salgo de la oficina – At around 6, I leave the office.
Meriendo – I have a snack

Other words that came up during the lesson:
Acostarse – to go to bed
Lavarse – to wash oneself
Levantarse – to get up
Ducharse – to shower
Hacerse daño – to hurt
Afeitarse – to shave
Peinarse – to comb
Vestirse – to get dressed
Relajarse – to relax, to chill out
Tarde – late
Temprano – early
Depende de… - it depends on
Ocupado/ ocupada – busy
