INTERMEDIATE COURSE, 2018, CLASS 3

In this class we began by revising advice around the environment….
Ve en bici
Ahorra energía
Come verduras

This is the imperative form of the verb: it allows you to give advice and orders
For someone we address as tú, we use the third person of the verb
Come,
Bebe
Entra
Siéntate

There are some irregulars
Ven (venir)
Ten (tener)
Haz (hacer)
Di (decir)

We then went on to talk about bullfighting
La corrida de toros – the bullfight
La lidia – the fight
El traje de luces – the bullfighter’s costume
La plaza de toros – the bullring
El picador – the rider on horseback who helps the bullfighter
El torero – the bullfighter

We discussed some questions
¿Las corridas de toros son crueles o cultura?
¿Has asistido a una corrida de toros? ¿Te gustaría?

We watched a video where Peruvian writer, Mario Vargas Llosa discussed bullfighting
Gozar – to enjoy
El toro bravo – the fighting bull
Arraigado – rooted (de “raíz” – roots)

Abuchear – to boo
