Twenty years after moving to Sligo from his native Mallorca, singer
songwriter and composer, Felip Carbonell presents in 2018 a series of
intimate concerts dedicated to the Hispanic poets and songwriters that have
influenced his career as a musician. The unusual format of these concerts
will give the audience the opportunity to interpret the meaning of the lyrics
as well as the social and political factors involving the songwriters’ lives,
and will include explanations and questions and answers in English.
In collaboration with the Sligo Spanish Society, for the first of
this cycle, dedicated to Cuba, Felip will pay tribute to Silvio RodrÃguez and
Pablo Milanés, maximum exponents of the Nueva
Trova Cubana, music movement that emerged in the late 60s after the Cuban
Revolution of 1959. For this occasion Felip will be accompanied by his
NoCrows colleague, guitarist Ray Coen.
