ELEMENTARY COURSE, AUTUMN 2017, CLASS 2

This week, we talked about Tapas. We did a brainstorming of all the words we knew previously and we commented on tapas. New words that came up:
Pato – duck
Calabación – courgette
Frutos secos – nuts
Carne picada – mince
Maíz – sweetcorn
Migas – breadcrumbs
Tapas
La ensaladilla rusa – Russian salad
Las gambas – The prawns
Las aceitunas – The olives
La tortilla de patatas – the Spanish omelette
Las albóndigas – the meatballs
Las croquetas – The croquettes
Los pimientos rellenos – The stuffed peppers
La ensalada – The salad
El chorizo – Chorizo
El gazpacho – The cold soup made with vegetables

We did a listening exercise about ordering tapas. Some words we did not understand:
Pidiendo tapas – ordering tapas
Dígame – Tell me (formal)
¿Qué desea? – What would you like?
¿Quiere usted una cerveza grande o pequeña? – Would you like a small or a big beer?
¿Lo van a tomar en la terraza? – Are you going to have it in the terrace?
¿Nos pone una ración de gambas? – Can we have a portion of prawns?
Sin calentarla – Without heating it up
Y un poco de pan y aceite – And a little bit of bread an oil.
Se lo llevo todo en seguida – I will bring everything shortly.

To conclude, in pairs we made up situations in a restaurant by using the words and expressions we had already learnt. Other words that came up during the exercise:
Media ración – half portion
Gratis / libre – free
Un poco de todo – a bit of everything
Un postre del día de los Santos -  A dessert of the day of the saints
