ELEMENTARY COURSE, SPRING 2017, CLASS 4


We began by revising some vocab from last week....
Una ida y vuelta – a return
Un billete – a ticket
Una ida – one way
Un retraso – a delay
Viajar – to travel
Un viaje – a journey
¿Puedo pagar con tarjeta de crédito? – Can I pay by credit card?
¿Puede decirme…? – Can you tell me…?

We also practiced some useful questions…
¿A qué hora sale…..? – what time does it leave?
¿A qué hora llega….? – what time does it arrive?
¿A qué hora abre…. ? – what time does it open?
¿A qué hora cierra….? – what time does it close?

We then went on to learn about emotions and temporary states in Spanish
Generally we use the verb Estar
Yo estoy
Tú estás
Él/ella está

Está enfermo/a – he/she is sick
Está preocoupado/a – he/she is worried
Está enamorado/a – he/she is in love
Está embarazada – she is pregnant
Está enfadado/a – he/she is angry
Está contento/a – He/she is happy
Está triste – He/she is sad
Está estresado/a – he/she is stressed
Está aburrido/a – he/she is bored
Está relajado/a – he/she is relaxed
Está cansado/a – he/she is tired

More emotions here...



We can also use Tener with nouns to talk about emotions…
Tengo frío – I am cold
Tengo calor – I am hot
Tengo sueño – I am sleepy
Tengo miedo – I am scared (literally, “I have fear”)
Tengo sed – I am thirsty

Tengo hambre – I am hungry
