BEGINNERS COURSE, SPRING 2017, CLASS 3

WE began by revising words for the family – la família
Los  padres – parents, el padre/la madre
Los abuelos – grandparents
El abuelo – grandfather
La abuela – grandmother
El hermano – brother
La hermana – sister
Los hermanos – brothers and sisters
El hijo – the son
La hija – the daughter
Los hijos – children

¿Tienes…….? – Do you have….?
Tengo…… - I have…..
¿Tienes hermanos? – Do you have brothers and sisters?
Tengo un hermano y una hermana

¿Cómo se llama…..? – What is he/she called?
¿Cómo se llama tu hermano? – What is your brother called?

¿Cuántos años tiene…..? – Hold is she/he?
Tiene 8 años – he/she is 8.
¿Cuántos años tienes? – How old are you?
Tengo treinta y tres años – I am 33.
Note: we use the verb To Have – Tener – to talk about age in Spanish

We then looked at jobs
¿Qué hace? – What does he/she do?
Es polícia – he/she is a police officer
Es medico/a – he/she is a doctor
Es enfermera – she is a nurse
Es bombero – he is a fireman
Es estudiante – he/she is a student
Es peluquero – he is a hairdresser
Es cocinero – he is a cook
Es profesora – she is a teacher

¿Qué haces? – What do you do?
Soy ingeniero – I am an engineer
Soy científica médica – I am a medical scientist
Soy funcionária – I am a civil servant/ clerical officer
Soy enfermera dental – I am a dental nurse
Soy comadrona – I am a midwife
