BEGINNERS COURSE, 2017, CLASS 4

This week we finished the topic of NACIONALIDADES with the listening on page 9.
Dawn es inglesa – Dawn is English
Alex es brasileño – Alex is Brazilian
Guy es francés – Guy is French
Iroaki es japonés – Iroaki is Japanise
Katrin es alemana – Katrin is German
Carla es norteamericana – Carla is northamerican
Margot es irlandesa – Margot is Irish
June es escocesa – June is Scottish
Lorraine es Galesa – Lorraine is Welsh
Lucca es italiano – Lucca is Italian

We learnt how to talk about languages.
¿Hablas español? – Do you speak Spanish?
Sí, hablo un poco – Yes, I speak a bit
¿Qué lenguas hablas? – What languages do you speak?
Hablo inglés, francés y un poco de español – I speak English, French and a bit of Spanish.

We talked about jobs in Spanish. We learnt a question for jobs:
¿A qué te dedicas? – What do you do for a living?
Soy … - I am a/an…
We also learnt jobs:
Él es policía / Ella es policía – He is a policeman ; She is a policewoman
Él es médico/ Ella es médica – He is a doctor; She is a doctor
Él es cocinero / Ella es cocinera – He is a chef; She is a chef
Él es estudiante / Ella es estudiante – He is a student; She is a student
Él está jubilado / Ella está jubilada – He is retired ; She is retired
¿A qué te dedicas? – What do you do for a living?
Soy professor – I am a teacher
¿A qué se dedica tu marido? – What does your husband do for a living?
Es cocinero – He is a cook
Él es artista y músico – He is an artist and a musician
Él es fontanero – He is a plumber
Ella es granjera – She is a farmer
Ella es funcionaria – She is an office worker (normally someone who works for the government)
Él es diseñador gráfico – He is a graphic designer
Es abogado/a – He/she’s a lawyer
Es carpintero – He’s a carpenter
Es ingeniero/a – He/she is an engineer
Es trabajador social / Es trabajadora social – He/she is a social worker
Es vendedor/es vendedora – He is a salesman/saleswoman
Es traductor/traductora – He/she a translator
Es bibliotecario/a – He/she is a librarian

We also worked on a dialogue and we translated the words and sentences we did not understand.
Azafata – Air hostess
Estudian periodismo los dos – They both study journalism
Abogado – laywer
Enfermera – Nurse
¿A qué te dedicas? – Another way to say “What do you do?”
¿A qué se dedica? – What does he/she do?
¿A qué se dedican? – What do they do?
