PRE-INTERMEDIATE 2 COURSE, SPRING 2016, CLASS 2

We began by revising the names for animals and we learned some others
Un chimpancé
Un hipopótamo
Una hormiga – an ant
Un cocodrilo

We also practiced “concordancia” ie. agreement between noun and adjective
Las ballenas son bonitas
Los perros son leales – dogs are loyal
The adjective has to agree with the noun in gender and number.
Las gallinas son amables
Los monos son monos – Monkeys are cute

We also compared ourselves with our brothers and sisters.
Mi hermana es más sociable que yo pero no es tan vieja como yo.
We also looked at comparing nouns
Mi hermana no tiene tantos hijos como yo – My sister doesn´t have as many children as I do.
We use “tan” to compare adjectives
We use “tanto” to compare nouns.

We then looked at superlatives – the most, the biggest, the most important…..
La ballena azul es el animal más grande de la Tierra. – the blue whale is the largest animal on Earth.
Note: el animal más grande – the noun comes first, then the superlative adjective…

We also discussed other superlatives
¿Cuál es el animal más feroz del mundo?
¿Cuál es el animal más numeroso del mundo?

For homework we had to complete the superlative questions on p.5
