WE began by learning the names of some animals in Spanish

Un pato – a duck
Un mono – a monkey
Una gallina – a hen
Un oso – a bear
Un león – a lion
Un lagarto – a lizard
Una cabra – a goat

Un pájaro – a bird
Un delfín – a dolphin
Una ballena – a whale

La gallina pone huevos – the hen lays eggs
El hombre-araña – spiderman
Un osito – a teddy bear

We also discussed whether we had pets and what our favourite animals were
Una mascot – a pet
Tenía una mascota cuando era joven
Mi animal favorito es…….

We then did an exercise to practice comparing things in Spanish
La ballena es más grande que el lagarto – the whale is bigger than the lizard
El lagarto no es tan grande como la ballena – the lizard is not as big as the whale

We used a range of adjectives to compare other animals
Un caballo es más hermoso que un lagarto – a horse is more beautiful than a lizard
Un león es más peligroso que un delfín – a lion is more dangerous than a dolphin
Una cabra no es tan amable como un perro – a goat is not as friendly as a dog

For homework we have to compare ourselves with one of our brothers or sisters

Eg. Soy más alto que mi hermano, pero no soy tan sociable como él.
