PRE-INTERMEDIATE COURSE, 2016, CLASS 4

We began by revising some vocab from the previous class
El macho – the male
La hembra – the female
Gracioso – funny
Sincero – honest

We then went on to learn words for talking about household chores
Sacar la basura – to take out the rubbish
Poner la mesa – to set the table
Quitar la mesa – to clear the table
Fregar el suelo – to mop the floor
Fregar los platos – to scrub/clean the dishes
Cortar el césped – to cut the lawn
Quitar el polvo – to dust
Pasar la aspiradora – to hoover
Planchar – to iron

We looked at some irregular verbs
Poner – pongo, pones, pone….
Fregar – friego, friegas, friega……

We listened to four people talking about the jobs they do at home
Hacer de canguro – to act as babysitter
Romper – to break
Ordenar – to tidy
Decorar – to decorate
 
We then talked about frequency
Dos veces a la semana – twice a week
Tres veces por año – three times a year
Cada dos semanas – every two weeks
Semana sí semana no – every two weeks
De vez en cuando – from time to time
 
Some other vocab that came up during the class
La hierba – the grass
Estoy hecho/a polvo – I am exhausted (literally “made into dust”)
Sucio – dirty
Limpio – clean
Las cacerolas – the pots and pans
Una duda – a doubt, a question
Arreglar – to tidy
una fregona - a mop
