ELEMENTARY COURSE, 2016, CLASS 6


WE began by revising various words for emotions using the verb ESTAR
Enfadado/a – angry
Preocupado/a – worried
Aburrido/a – bored
Cansado/a – tired
Enamorado/a – in love

We also mentioned some temporary states. We also use ESTAR with these…
Embarazada – pregnant
Sucio/a – dirty
Limpio/a – clean
Desordenado/a – messy

We then talked about emotions with TENER
Tengo sed – I am thirsty
Tengo hambre – I am hungry
Tengo sueño – I am sleepy
Tengo calor – I am hot
Tengo miedo – I am scared
Tengo miedo de las arañas – I am scared of spiders
Las serpientes – snakes
Las aguas profundas – deep water
Las alturas – heights

We then went on to learn some verbs connected to daily routine
Levantarse – to get up, me levanto – I get up
Ducharse – to shower, me ducho – I shower
Desayunar – to have breakfast, desayuno – I have breakfast
Ir al trabajo – to go to work, Voy al trabajo – I go to work
Empezar el trabajo – to begin work, Empiezo el trabajo – I begin work
Comer – to have lunch = amorzar
Como – I have lunch, almuerzo – I have lunch
Volver a casa – to return home, vuelvo a casa – I return home
Cenar – to have dinner, ceno – I have dinner
Acostarse – to go to bed, me acuesto – I go to bed

Las comidas – meals
El desayuno – breakfast
La comida/el almuerzo – lunch
La merienda – mid-afternoon snack
La cena – dinner
