BEGINNERS 2 COURSE, AUTUMN 2015, CLASS 6

We began the class by revising parts of the body
Tocáos – touch…. (an order, to a group of people…)
Tócate – touch…. (to one person)
Tocar is the verb to Touch
Tocáos la nariz – touch your nose
La boca – the mouth
El corazón – the heart
El pie – the foot
La pierna – the leg
la cabeza - the head
la oreja - the ear
Me duele – it hurts

We then looked at ways of describing people in Spanish
¿Cómo es? - What does he/she look like?
Ser - To Be
Soy, eres, es - I am, you are, he/she is
Tener - To Have
Tengo, tienes, tiene - I have, you have, he/she has
Llevar - to wear, carry
Llevo, llevas, lleva - I wear, you wear, he/she wears

It is important to distinguish between "Es" and "Tiene"
Es alto/alta – he/she is tall
Tiene el pelo rubio – he/she has blond hair

We then moved on to learning about Clothes in Spanish...
Llevar - to wear
La ropa - clothes
Una falda - a skirt
Un cinturón - a belt
Una camisa - a shirt
Una camiseta - a t-shirt
Un traje - a suit
Una chaqueta - a jacket
Un suéter - a jumper, sweater
Unos guantes - gloves
Una bufanda - a scarf
Calcetines - socks
Un sombrero - a hat
Una corbata - a tie
Unas botas - boots
Vaqueros - jeans
Un vaquero - a cowboy
Las zapatillas de deporte - sports shoes

To talk about what clothes people are wearing we need the verb Llevar....
Lleva un abrigo marrón y una bufanda roja - she is wearing a brown coat and a red scarf.

We also learned language connected to shopping for clothes.
La talla - the size
El número - the size (for shoes)
Probar - to try on
El probador - the changing room
Ancho - wide, loose
Estrecho - narrow, tight
Le queda muy bien - it suits you
Me lo llevo - I'll take it
Algodón - cotton
Seda - silk
Lana - wool
Cuero/piel - leather
Es muy caro - it is expensive
Es barato - it is cheap
