TUBBERCURRY BEGINNERS COURSE, AUTUMN 2015, CLASS 4

We began by revising the words for jobs and nationalities, from last week.

We then went on to learn about telling the time in Spanish
¿Qué hora es? - what time is it?
Es la una - it's one o'clock
Son las ocho - it's eight o'clock
Son las ocho y media - it's half past eight
Son las ocho y diez - it's ten past eight
Son las ocho y cuarto - it's a quarter past eight
Son las nueve menos diez - (8.50) it's ten to nine
Son las nueve menos cuarto - (8.45) it's a quarter to nine
Note: For 'ten past', or 'twenty past', we use the hour in Spanish, plus 'y'.....son las diez y diez (10.10), son las diez y veinte (10.20)
For 'ten to' or 'twenty to', we go to the hour after, and use 'menos'........son las diez menos diez (9.50), son las diez menos veinte (9.40)

We then learned the days of the week
Lunes - Monday
Martes - Tuesday
Miércoles - Wednesday
Jueves - Thursday
Viernes - Friday
El fin de semana - the weekend
Sábado - Saturday
Domingo – Sunday

We then practiced the days and times together….
We practiced arranging a time to meet…
Nos vemos – we’ll see each other……
Nos vemos el lunes a las ocho – we’ll meet on Monday at 8.
Nos vemos el martes a las diez y media de la mañana – We can meet on Tuesday at 10.30 in the morning
