This week we talked about complaints
Las quejas – Complaints
We did a listening activity. The words and phrases we did not understand are the following:
¡qúe sosa está la sopa! – How bland this soup is!
Está demasiado caliente – It is too hot.
Falta un vaso – There’s a glass missing
¡Qué sucia está la mesa! – How dirty the table is!
Servilleta – Napkin
Hay una mosca en mi ensalada – There is a fly in my salad

Other words that came up while working on this part:
La pimienta negra – black pepper
El pimentero – the container for the black pepper
El salero – the container for the salt
Aceite de oliva – olive oil
Aceitunas / olivas – Olives
El recipiente – the container
No nos quejamos – we don’t complain
Está roto – it’s broken
Es caro – it is expensive
No es barato – It is not cheap
¿Cómo quieres la carne? – How do you like the meat?
Poco hecha – rare
Normal – medium
Muy hecha – well-cooked
Quemada – burnt
Cubertería – canteen (cutlery)
Cubiertos – cutlery
Estar mosca  / Estar con la mosca detrás de la oreja– to suspect



We also talked about El perfecto

He tenido una vida muy interesante. – I have had a very interesting life
He vivido en Corea del norte – I have lived in North Korea
He trabajado como embajador en Rusia – I have worked as an ambassador in Russia
He comido serpiente en África – I have eaten snake in Africa
He hablado con Bill Clinton muchas veces – I have talked to Clinton many times
He visto la aurora boreal en el Ártico – I have seen the northern lights in the Artic
He escrito un libro de poemas – I have written a poem book
He hecho el surf en el océano muchas veces – I have done surf in the ocean many times

We did a speaking exercise about el perfecto. Some of the answers are the following:
¿Has hablado con algún famoso? – Have you talked to a celebrity?
He hablado con el presidente de Irlanda – I have talked to the president of Ireland.
¿Has vivido en algún país extranjero? – Have you lived in a foreign country?
He vivido en Estados Unidos y en Canadá – I have lived in the United States and Canada
¿Has comido algo raro? – Have you eaten anything unsual?
He comido ancas de rana y caracoles – I have eaten frog’s legs and snails
¿Has trabajado fuera de Irlanda? – Have you worked outside Ireland?
He trabajado en México y en Perú – I have worked in Mexico and Peru.
