IMPROVERS COURSE, 2015, (HOTEL), CLASS 8

This week we learnt some actions related to hobbies.
Pasatiempos – leisure time
En mi tiempo libre me gusta… – in my free time I like…
Aprender – to learn
Jugar al golf – to play golf
Dormir – To sleep
Cantar – To sing
Comer – to eat
Bailar – to dance
Leer – to read
Nadar – to swim
Pasear por el campo – To take strolls
Escuchar música – To listen to the music
Ver la tele – To watch TV
Ir de compras – to go shopping
Ir de copas – To go for a drink
Ir de cañas – To go for a beer (small size, normally before lunch)
Ir al cine – to go to the cinema
Tocar un instrumento – To play an instrument

In pairs we talked about our hobbies.
A John le gusta ir al cine – John likes going to the cinema
A María no le gusta ver la tele – María doesn’t like watch TV
A mí no me gusta ir de compras – I don’t like going shopping
A tí te gusta cantar – You like singing

We translated some sentences
A María le gusta pasear – María likes going for walks.
A Peter le gusta cantar – Peter likes singing
A Sheila le gusta nadar – Sheila likes swimming
A Donal le gusta bailar – Donal likes dancing
A Juan no le gusta ver la tele – Juan doesn’t like watching TV

We did a listening exercise.
A Rosa le gusta…- Rosa likes…
La música – The music
Leer – to read
Las novelas españolas – The Spanish novels
El ciclismo - Cycling
A Rosa le gusta estar con su familia – She likes being with her family
A Rosa le gusta salir al parque con sus hijas – She likes going to the park with her friends
A rosa le gustan los restaurantes – She likes restaurants
También le gusta el teatro – She likes going to the theatre too.

A Rosa no le gustan los deportes – Rosa doesn’t like sports
A Rosa no le gusta mucho el cine – Rosa doesn’t like going to the cinema much.


To wrap up our lesson, we read the last dialogue. Some words we didn’t understand:
El aire libre – the open air
Todos los fines de semana – Every weekend
A veces nado – I swim sometimes
¿Tocas algún instrumento? – Do you play an instrument?
Y canto ¡pero solo en la ducha! – And I sing ¡but only in the shower!
Me relajo – I relax.
Veo la tele, como, duermo – I watch tv, I eat, I sleep
No hago mucho, en realidad – I don’t do much, actually
