IMPROVERS COURSE, AUTUMN 2013, CLASS 2

In the second session of our course, we learnt the numbers from 20 to 100 and we learnt a basic question to put them in practice:
¿Cuántos años tienes? – How old are you?
Yo tengo …. Años – I am …….. years old.
We talked about shopping by using the articles a/an in Spanish:
Un -(masculine and singular words) à Un lápiz – A pencil
Una – (feminine and singular words) à Una caja – A box
Unos – (masculine and plural words) à Unos lápices – Some pencils
Unas – (masculine and plural words) à Unas cajas – Somes boxes

Un bolígrafo – a pen                                 Unos bolígrafos – some pens
Una revista – a magazine                        Unas revistas – some magazines
Un periódico – a newspaper            Unos periódicos – some newspapers

We also learnt the articles this/these in Spanish:
Este – (masculine and singular words) à Este lápiz – This pencil
Esta – (feminine and singular words) à Esta caja – This box
Estos – (masculine and plural words) à Estos lápices – These pencils
Estas – (feminine and plural words) à Estas cajas – These boxes.

Este libro – This book                    Estos libros – these books
Esta mesa – This table                  Estas mesas – these tables
We also worked on a basic dialogue we can use when we go shopping.
-Buenos días – Good morning
-Buenos días – Good morning
-Busco un periódico en inglés. ¿Hay? –I’m looking for a newspaper in English. Are there any?
-Sí, hay períodicos en inglés. Están ahí, al lado de la puerta. – Yes, there are. They are there, next to the door.
-¿Cuánto cuesta el Irish Times?  - How much is the Irish Times?
-Cuesta cuatro euros con cincuenta y cinco céntimos. It is 4,55€
-Eso es muy caro. – It is very expensive.
-Es el precio. ¿Usted lo quiere? – That’s the Price. Do you want it?
-Sí, me lo llevo. Aquí tiene cinco euros. –Yes, I’m buying it. Here you have five euro
-Y su vuelta. Adiós. – Your money back. Bye!

We listened to some dialogues and we translated them in English.
